Job Summary:
The Restaurant Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the dining area, ensuring a high level of guest service, maintaining a smooth flow of service, and leading the front-of-house staff. This role requires excellent leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
- Ensure that all guests receive high-quality service throughout their dining experience.
- Address guest complaints or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Maintain a positive atmosphere in the restaurant by managing guest interactions and resolving any issues that arise.
Staff Management:
- Supervise, train, and motivate front-of-house staff, including servers, hosts, and bartenders.
- Assign duties and responsibilities to the team to ensure efficient operations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Operations Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring that everything runs smoothly during peak hours.
- Manage the restaurant floor, ensuring proper seating arrangements and flow of guests.
- Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the dining area and restrooms.
- Ensure that staff adhere to health and safety standards and company policies.
Inventory and Supplies:
- Monitor and manage restaurant supplies and equipment, ensuring that everything is well-stocked and operational.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and bar to ensure seamless communication regarding guest orders, menu changes, and special requests.
Financial Responsibilities:
- Assist with managing the restaurant’s budget, including tracking labor costs and supplies.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions, including verifying bills and handling guest payments.
- Assist in implementing strategies to increase sales and improve profitability.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the kitchen, bar, and management team to ensure smooth communication and the efficient execution of orders.
- Help in coordinating special events, promotions, or themed nights as directed by the restaurant manager.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Train staff on proper food handling and safety procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a floor manager or supervisor in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent guest service and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.
- Basic knowledge of restaurant financials, including budgeting and sales tracking.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A degree or certification in hospitality management or a related field.
- Knowledge of POS systems and restaurant management software.
- Experience with staff scheduling and labor management.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
